The principle behind this application is simple. It will check groups of keywords against other sources from your hard drive or the Internet and it will tell you how many similarities it finds.

There are no special requirements to meet regarding system resources or additional services. This means that you can install the application immediately, even on computers with low end hardware. When you launch the software, you will have to wait until it makes a few basic configurations. This happens each time you run it. Fortunately, the process takes only a few seconds.

Plagiarism Checker X lets you perform a side by side comparison of two separate texts. You will have to paste them in separate boxes, on the software's interface, and click a Scan button, in the lower right corner of the same window. Before scanning, you may type a number for a matching limit. Besides pasting your text, you may import Word documents or plain text files, in each text box, with different browsing options.

Common phrases are highlighted, with different colors, so you can spot similarities more easily. The application will also display a percentage of found duplicates and the total number of matches. Additionally, you can find a phrase counter, which displays the number of occurrences and density for each expression, used in the original text. This information can be saved on your hard drive, as a CSV or HTML file.

The application makes it possible to check pieces of text against online sources as well. This can be done in a different section of the interface, where you just need to paste your text and click a button to analyze it. In a few seconds, Plagiarism Checker X will display a series of web site URLs, along with details like number of matches and duplicate percentage. You may access any listed web site, on your default browser, by right clicking a URL and selecting an option from the context menu. It is also possible to export the results as an HTML file, which contains the original text and the same list of statistics.
